- We all liked to be involved in things. From the most out there extroverts, to the very reclusive introverts, we all like being part of a wider community to some degree. Being able to participate in online events, such as live streams, is a great way to tap into this.
- Buzzfeed’s Facebook Live stream of wrapping rubber bands around a watermelon until it exploded is a good example of this. To the 800k users who watched it live, the shared anticipation of what was about to happen was something they all could share in. It was a massive hit, becoming a viral sensation and at the time was the most watched Facebook Live stream.
- This sense of community and being part of something larger then yourself is shown to attract many people online. This works in both the creating a community online, as well as creating successful viral content.
