- Google has announced that it has changed how titles are created for search listings, with the search query no longer being used.
- Previously, the query put in by the user would formulate the title of the snippets for each search result. Google has said it now uses “the main visual title or headline shown on a page” to create titles. However, HTML title tags will still be the primary way they are produced, at roughly 80% of the time.
- This could potentially create changes to click-through rates from Google search results, though Google has said that its testing found it’s new system to “produces titles that are more readable and preferred by searches”.
