- FedEx Express Canada has opened a new multimillion dollar facility in Etobicoke as the company moves to capitalize on ecommerce boom
- The facility is designed to process small ecommerce packages at a rapid rate, reaching up to 20,000 packages an hour, 7 days a week. The delivery company has said the expect to create 100 new jobs with the sites opening
- FedEx follows Amazon, Walmart and several other companies who have opened new delivery sites in Ontario since the start of 2020 as each tries to capitalize and manage the influx of ecommerce orders
- The growth of ecommerce has led to FedEx Express Canada increasing its workforce by 25%, rising from 7,500 to over 10,000 employees
