- Instagram Reels is to start including ads, Facebook has announced, having tested them for users in Australia, Brazil, India and Germany. They will now be rolled out globally, with the ads vertically oriented and at a maximum of 30 seconds long.
- Prior to this, the company had seen to be focused on growing its platform as it looks to catch up with its competitor, Tik Tok, with the focus on the feed and in stories.
- However, with the growth of ecommerce and Tik Tok holding it’s own advertising system, it should be no real surprise at the move. Reels was launched in August of last year, as Tik Tok was seeing rapid growth and is seen as its main competitor.
